So I haven’t really talked about health care “reform” in a while, mostly because I don’t want people to follow my blog. I’ve decided to attempt to shore up my numbers today and discuss the mostest importantist issue that faces the American people ever.
My first impression is that this debate is nothing more than a farce. The whole debate has been framed as people not being able to get insurance. Somehow, this means that the government should steal money from taxpayers like me and pay for the health care of the lazy and stupid. Even the numbers are largely made up and anyone who can count could easily understand that there aren’t many people who can’t afford insurance.
One thing you should understand is that whenever a politician wants to expand government power (and thus, government tyranny), they will frame the issue in a manner that sounds like they are some kind of benefactor. In this case, they refer to it as health care “reform”, which sounds positive and encouraging. But it’s not.
Any bill that takes up 2000+ pages is bound to destroy whatever it is they are trying to fix. Why does it take that many pages to “fix” something that most people don’t find it to be broken in the first place. The truth is, most people are perfectly fine with their health care plan and despite all the mandates at the Federal and state level, we are still able to afford it. Reforming the current system with a 2000 page bill will do nothing but destroy it. Seriously, do you think they would just blather on for several pages. I’ve read some bills in my day and even though they start out with BS, they usually have meat in them. And 2000 pages of meat means nothing but trouble for all of us.
I’ve heard so many people claim that health care costs are going up. To be honest, I don’t see it. Nobody I know complains on a regular basis about their health care costs going up. Now, I know that generally falls into the taboo categories we generally don’t discuss with other people, but still it seems to me that if it was as big a problem as some people portray it, we’d have a lot more water cooler conversations going on about it.
In reality, these kind of laws are nothing more than government tyranny disguised as helping us out. In truth, the Nazis would be proud of what the Democrat leaders are doing because the Nazis had to rely on race where as they are relying on our misplaced sense of altruism. The real problem with health care is not that people can’t get it, but that we are overly concerned with those who can’t.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any recommended solutions at the moment. I don’t trust the Republicans to repeal it, if the bill is passed, and I have a feeling that the Democrats will manage to pass it, despite all the protests and general rabble-rousing of the average American. The only thing to do is wait for the Federal government to go bankrupt and be forced to roll back all of it’s excessive spending. Both parties in power are addicted to spending money they don’t have and I doubt anything has changed much in two short years.
The best thing you can do is eat, drink, and find enjoyment in your work. It is a gift from God, after all.
