A Prince Unfit

Today is Independence Day here in the United States.  This is not the day in which we won our freedom from the madness of King George, but rather, the day we drew a line and said, “No more.”  There is a long list of grievances in the Declaration of Independence that reflect the problems that the colonies faced.  King George, you see, was trying to use us to fund his wars overseas.  At least that was my impression.  In any case, the colonialist were not treated very well by him and they decided to declare their own sovereignty.
One line from that powerful document has really struck me as profound:
A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
Just think about that.  What has the government done to its very people it was suppose to protect?  Instead of listening to them, they dump money into banks because they are “too big to fail.”  I would have said to let them fail.  Failure should always remain an option for the stupid.  If you are not allowed to touch the burning stove, then how will you ever know what hot means?
The politicians who run our government are princes unfit.  All of them need to go in order to secure our freedom once again.  They are tyrants and demagogues who have destroyed all meaning of the Constitution and of liberty.  They no longer make decisions based on what is permissible in the United States Constitution, but based on what will get them elected.
This goes down all party lines.  Even Ron Paul has failed us, by earmarking money he knew would cost us all dearly.  All of them are tyrants who need to be sent packing.  I know they will not go home easily, but I hope that our military will have the good sense to do what was done in Honduras recently.
I hope you enjoy your Independence Day.  Have some fun, watch fireworks with your kids.  But much like Christmas, you probably do not care about the true meaning of this day.
Freedom was not won in this nation on this day.  It was declared.
