End Times

End times.  Some Christians are obsessed with it.

It’s nothing new really.  Many Christians since Jesus’ ascension have declared that the time of the end is near.  That God has redeemed mankind through Jesus and that there is nothing more than a complete conquest of this world by God.

And yet, the years go on and nothing really changes, at least in terms of human behavior and the world at large.  Every once and a while a deranged lunatic shows up and proclaims that the end times are at hand, often pointing to the corruption of mankind, which has been around since the beginning and never really goes away.

Unfortunately, there are many people who are tired of this world and would gladly follow such morons.  I don’t blame them.  This world is full of evil, wicked people who would plot your death if it benefited them.  I long for the days of not having to deal with such beasts.

What do I believe about the end times?

Well, for one thing, I don’t believe that they are upon us.  Despite the turmoil and mass acceptance of immorality in the West, there is nothing new under the sun.  Sure the technology is better, the world has gotten easier to live in, and people seem to be kinder than in past times.  But the scope of human wickedness has not changed.  It has merely been treated as a virtue lately but this attitude is changing.

I could be wrong of course.  No one really knows when it will all end.  And most people who proclaim themselves to be prophets are either demonic or flat out delusional.  Or both.

The end times will come when they come.  I think instead of trying to look for signs, we should be focused on what we can do in our own lives to make things better.  Don’t obsess over Biblical symbols and metaphors.  Focus on the wisdom and revelation that can be found in reading the Bible to begin with.

And most of all, don’t worry.  Whatever happens, God will bring His people to Him and cast out the wicked in the end.  So no matter what, He wins.

Always remember that.
