Too Long For Twitter

It amazes me how often conservatives are duped by pro-life Statists.  When then Focus on the Family head Dr. James Dobson, a man I actually respect, threw a political temper tantrum over Guiliani’s possible rise to nomination status, I knew he was wrong to do so.  Then he held a convention (or participated in one, I can’t remember) where they divined that Mike Huckabee was “the one.”  Maybe God didn’t really want to talk to him on that weekend.  Happens to the best of us.

My wife and I have an unspoken agreement.  If either one of us wants a divorce, the party that wants out has to be willing to leave with nothing.  We have no official prenuptual agreement that states this, but I am a man of integrity and I will hold up my end of this agreement.  If my wife doesn’t, though, I won’t hold it against her.  I know, I’m a sucker, but hey, most married men are, at the end of the day.

Statism is not just Socialism.  It is any political philosophy that regards the state as superior to the individual.  This includes such philosophies as Nazism, communism, Peronism, fascism, monarchism, or any other “ism” you can think of that involves this kind of philosophy.  The only exceptions are maybe anarcho-capitalism, Objectivism, or libertarianism.  But there really is no such thing as a perfect anti-Statism philosophy if you have a fundamental understanding of human nature.

My Christian faith is separate from my libertarianism.  If you are of a different political persuasion, then you can still be a brother or sister in Christ.  However, I do draw the line when people of any political background decide to claim that Jesus would be on their side.  God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is never on your side and it is reflective of the highest order of pride to believe otherwise.  You have to be on God’s side, not vice versa.

One of the saddest things about government schools (and many private schools) is that they don’t require classes on basic economics and personal finance.  We have fruitful minds who are pretty decent in reading, writing, science, mathematics, history, and political science graduating without knowledge of balancing a checkbook and the laws of supply and demand.  These are more important skills to know about than knowing what’s inside a dead frog.

Our national defense spending could easily be cut in half and we could still crush our enemies and hear the crying of their women.  But don’t tell a conservative that, because no matter how fiscally responsible he or she is, there is no money wasted in the military in their world.  Such thinking is delusional and foolish.

Maybe it’s high time we started taxing the poor in order to raise government revenues.  If you accept the premise that the government needs more money, then it’s only natural to work this out.  After all, there are fewer rich people, they have more mobility, and they tend to hire poor people to do their work.  However, if we reversed the progressive income tax, we might see unemployment go down and tax revenues go up.  So we should tax cigarettes, beer, gasoline, and hold state-run lotteries in order to tax them.  Oh wait…

Cameron Diaz is probably the dumbest person living from Hollywood.  She’s a decent actress, but a total airhead in real life.  No wonder she’s a communist.

I personally have more trouble relating to men than with women.  I don’t know why this is, but I suspect it is because I don’t like football, which automatically makes me gay in the eyes of many men.  And frankly, I’d rather not pretend to like just to get other men to like me.  I’m never one to lie about myself.  Still, I have related to men in the past, just that I’ve had an easier time with women.  Didn’t help me much when I was single, though.

Now that I’ve compressed about six blog topics into a single posting, I guess that means I BS more than often than not on my blog.  This probably explains why no one really reads it as well.
