The Elderly: Proving Democracy Doesn’t Work

So yesterday I wrote a bunch of random thoughts and when I mentioned that the elderly, by and large, have done nothing worthy of respect.  Apparently this offended some people, which is unfortunate, but I stand by what I’ve said.  If I had to judge an entire generation like the Baby Boomers or the “Greatest” Generation, I would say they suck big time.
Look, it’s nothing personal.  It’s just that when push comes to shove, as a whole they vote for big welfare programs and perpetuate the destructive welfare state.  To top it off, their radical left-wing policies they’ve supported domestically and their warmongering policies of the 1950s and 1960s have set up an establishment that not even Ronald Reagan could unravel.
To top it off, we have the San Franciscan Face Lift (that is, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi) telling young people that Social Security would be there for us.  You’ll excuse me if I don’t believe her.  To be fair, she probably believes the lies she spews out with all her heart.  If I were her advisor though, I’ll tell to not stand next to that clown Charlie Rangel.  It just looks bad over all.
Look, when you break them down individually, a lot of the elderly are decent people.  But, to paraphrase George Carlin, the elderly are like any other people group: a few winners, a lot of losers.  It is unfortunate, but there is truth in what he said.  It just sucks that comedians are the only truly honest people these days.  Otherwise, you’re just mean.
In any case, I don’t claim that my generation or anyone close to whatever my generation is any better than them, by and large.  We are just as selfish and stupid as the last one and I’m sure that all the little carpet rats we’re having now will grow and hate and despise us.  It’s the wonderful cycle of life that Sir Elton John sang about in the last great Disney animated movie.
I’ll be the first to tell you that my generation sucks.  It’s obvious that we don’t care enough about these problems we’re facing otherwise you’d have seen a full revolt from us where all of Congress would have been lynched.  As King Solomon wrote towards the end of his life, there is nothing new under the sun.
Don’t worry, I’m not bitter about any of it.  I made it to adulthood, even being born on the ninth anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, another legacy the elderly has left us, and I have my plan.  I do not seek help from the government and I generally just despise people who do because you aren’t really helping yourself.
But please, don’t feed me any altruistic lies you seem to have about your group versus mine.  For the time being, my generation has refused to claim any sort of moral high ground.  I guess it’s because we’re too busy living at home with our parents and working retail to really consider the higher callings that the Baby Boomers thought they had.
All I really ask is that you live your life in your own way, so long as it is honest and peaceful and I’ll do the same.  But understand that with Social Security already becoming insolvent, I don’t have much faith in what government is doing.  Considering that over one-third of the Federal Budget is Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, I don’t have much hope for the future of this country.
